Name: Board of Directors: Basics and Best Practices
Date: March 31, 2026
Time: 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM CDT
Event Description:

If you've ever wondered what your board is actually supposed to do, or wished yours functioned a little better, this workshop is for you. Nonprofit consultant Selina Gomez-Beloz breaks down board roles, legal duties, recruitment strategies, and the key ingredients of a board that is clear about its roles and truly supports organizational success. Attendees will receive handout materials to use right away, including a board meeting agenda template and governance checklist. While rooted in nonprofit best practices, the fundamentals of board governance translate directly to for-profit businesses as well — the structure, responsibilities, and dynamics of an effective board look remarkably similar regardless of your tax status. Whether you're building your first board from scratch or looking to reset the one you have, this workshop gives you a strong jumping-off point for getting it right.
