Event Description:
Join Chamber colleagues and friends for this very special glimpse into Lake Forest's history. Laurie Stein, Deputy Director and Head of Curation at the History Center, will highlight Lake Forest’s Black-owned businesses of the 1800s and early 1900s, relating the stories of the residents who built them, like livery owner Samuel Dent and restauranteurs Annie and Peter Williams. The talk will be followed by a tour of the History Center’s exhibit “Deeply Rooted and Rising High: African American Experiences in Lake Forest.”
