Name: Decoupage Workshop at the Deer Path Art League
Date: December 8, 2018
Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM CST
Event Description:

Decoupage is a very old, traditional paper craft. The history of decoupage stretches back as far as the 12th century, however it was in the 17th century that the craft reached its height of popularity with aristocrats and noble ladies practicing decoupage as well as the more humble practitioners.

Decoupage is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf and other decorative elements. Decoupage is created by layering several pieces of paper on top of each other. The surface can be raised using double sided pads or tape or you can use ready formed shapes to decoupage over. Complex and intricate designs can be created by cutting out and layering different elements of an image.

The Decoupage workshop is a prelude to the Decoupage class series…where creativity, design and techniques will be expanded upon. We will be creating glass plates, trays, bowls, and other decorative home items with imagery from Vicki’s vast and ever-expanding collection of 18th and 19th century prints. In the workshop you will be able to make beautiful one of a kind gifts for the holiday.
