Event Description:
Join us as we partner with Kellogg to bring a certificate in nonprofit leadership right here at Gorton Community Center. Gorton Community Center’s 2020 Greater Good Project will team up with Kellogg School’s Center for Nonprofit Management at Northwestern University to present a series of lectures and workshops around the topic of nonprofit organizational leadership. Topics will include Financial Management for Nonprofit Leaders, Optimizing Time Management with Competing Pressures, Growth Strategy: Linking Mission, Finance, and Tactics, Leading High Impact Teams, and Leadership Development: Strengths Based Leadership with Assessment. The series is designed for nonprofit, governmental, and school leaders who are interested in developing their communication skills and building effective marketing for their organization. Anyone who completes the series will earn a Nonprofit Marketing and Communications Certificate from Kellogg. Program registration includes five professional workshops and a certificate award luncheon. Sessions will take place once a month in March, April, May, September, and October from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and includes breakfast and lunch. All workshops will be led by Kellogg, Medill, and other Northwestern professors and will take place at Gorton. The cost is $1,000 for the entire certificate series. The Greater Good Project, launched in 2016 and funded by the Grainger Foundation, was created to support the growth and professional development through the implementation stage of the Lake County Nonprofit ecosystem. The intention is to nurture and expand these organizations by providing relevant speakers, workshops, and individual professional coaching and networking events. Sessions are filling up quickly.
