Date: June 11, 2023
Time: 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM CDT
Event Description:

Our annual benefit this year returns to the picturesque Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest. Join us to hear sensational music and support the mission of ICA, while having a thoroughly enjoyable time with friends! ICA's commissioned comic chamber opera by James M. Stephenson and Matt Boresi will be unveiled at this much anticipated world premiere event! If the world has you down, then this little comic opera will uplift you. A true story of a cobbler's daughter and servant girl inspired this funny and romantic comedy. This story examines fascination, obsession, and desire, as one woman seeks to creatively cast off the fetters placed on her by society. Also on the program is a violin sonata dedicated to Mendelssohn's daughter by Ethel Smyth, a woman who overcame the constraints of her middle-class English background by open rebellion. This is a profound work with tonal color at its core.
