The 2013 Northwestern Medicine Lake Bluff Criterium
and
Lake Bluff Block Party
produced by Friends of Lake Bluff Parks
are back on Saturday, July 20, 2013.
Professional bicycle racing comes to the Village of Lake Bluff on Saturday, July 20, 2013. The Northwestern Medicine Lake Bluff Criterium will feature high-level amateur racing followed by professional men’s and women’s cycling teams with top pro riders from across the United States and many foreign countries.
A uniquely American style of bike racing, criteriums or "crits” are really fast and intense. Crits are run on a closed-off course often in and an around the central business district of a town. They are usually about a mile or so long; our racecourse is nearly 0.75 miles. This type of short course gives cycling fans a chance to see the riders come around every few minutes.
The annual Lake Bluff Block Party will kick off at 11a.m. with food, drinks, kids' games. Live music starts at 1:20 p.m. and goes into the night.
