The LFCO celebrates the tales of Heroes as told by Beethoven and Brahms. The Overture to Egmont was written to accompany Goethe’s play by the same name and depicts the Flemish Count Egmont and his fight for liberty against the despotic Duke of Alba. From the soloist’s first notes through the final chords, the Violin Concerto by Brahms is truly heroic and will be performed by John Lee from Vernon Hills High School. Beethoven’s famous Eroica (Heroic) Symphony, originally inspired by Napoleon Bonaparte, rounds out our program.
This concert features Vernon Hills High School Senior, John Lee playing the 1st movement of Brahm’s Violin concerto. John has been a part of the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory for nine years and studies under Almita Vamos and Injoo Choi.
