Lake Forest Civic Orchestra Sunday Concert Series - "In the Beginning"

The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra opens our season of Epics, Odes, and Sagas with “In the Beginning…” featuring two takes on the creation story. Haydn opens his epic oratorio The Creation with a musical depiction of the chaos which preceded the creation of the universe. In contrast, Darius Milhaud, draws upon various African creation myths in his ballet score La création du monde. Combining both classical and jazz traditions, La création du monde has been called “a real love affair with jazz.” We look forward to our January performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, by beginning where he began, his Symphony No. 1.
 
Cellist Jocelyn Gao, a senior at Stevenson HS joins us for the first movement of Dvorak’s cello concerto.
