Event Description:
The Lake Forest Preservation Foundation is thrilled to announce the November release of the 2022 edition of Architectural Lake Forest: A Guide to National Register Historic Districts and Properties in Lake Forest, Illinois. With the support from our generous donors, this new soft-cover guidebook presents architectural information, history and photographs of over 260 magnificent properties in Lake Forest. The book explores Lake Forest’s National Register neighborhoods and examines iconic homes, buildings and landscapes that define the glories of Lake Forest. Mark your calendars - on Sunday, November 6 from 3pm to 5pm, LFPF will be hosting a reception celebrating the book’s launch at an exceptional David Adler designed private residence. This home has rarely been opened to the public and is a stunning example of the work of both David Adler and his sister, Frances Elkins. The afternoon will include a tour with docents of both the first and second floors, light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served. Arthur Miller, author, researcher and historian will discuss the history and importance of this property as well as introduce you to Architectural Lake Forest. A signed copy of Architectural Lake Forest is included in the ticket price. Tickets are limited. Proceeds from this fund-raiser will go to our mission of safeguarding our exceptional architectural and landscape legacy for succeeding generations. Don’t miss this unparalleled opportunity!
