The Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society is pleased to present the lecture, Chicago's Golden Era of Print Journalism. Mike Conklin is the retired editor and writer for the Chicago Tribune. He will look back on the events and institutions of Chicago's newspapers and the variety of contributions made by their writers, photographers and cartoonists. The talk will include the impact of such influential literary figures as Joseph Medill, Eugene Field, William Randolph Hearst, Robert Abbott, John T. McCutcheon, Ben Hect, Carl Sandburg, Sigrid Schultz, William Shirer, and Gwendolyn Brooks. It will be held at Lake Forest Place, located at 1100 Pembridge Drive, Lake Forest, IL 60045.
