Event Description:

The presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of key financing tools and grant programs provided by SomerCor that support small business growth and economic development. It will cover the SBA 504 Loan Program, SBA 7(a) Community Advantage Loan Program, as well as City of Chicago grant programs, the Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF) and the Neighborhood Opportunity Fund (NOF). In addition, SomerCor launched a new Down Payment Assistance Program (DPAP) earlier this month to help businesses in Cook County that will be introduced.

 

Participants will leave with a clear understanding of the financing and grant options that are available, how each program operates, and what steps are needed to successfully apply.

Elisbeth Williams, EVP, SBA Loan Operations

Elisabeth “Lis” Williams is an SBA 504 loan program veteran. Prior to joining SomerCor in 2020, Williams co-founded and served as Vice President of Wessex 504 Corporation (an Illinois CDC) for eight years, growing the CDC’s 504 portfolio to more than $110 million. Her background as an entrepreneur and deep understanding of the SBA 504 loan program make her an outstanding loan officer and resource.​

 

Lis received her B.A. in Environmental Design from Miami University and her M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. ​

Stacie Porosky, Score Event Committee, Mentor, Host

Stacie Porosky is a seasoned business leader in the Greater Chicago Area who specializes in providing strategic guidance to Fortune 100 organizations, focusing on growth, value, and customer-centric initiatives. She currently leads Training Strategy and Implementation at Mosaic North America, where she spearheads impactful training programs and drives retail excellence for Google Stores.

 

Outside of her corporate roles, Stacie gives back to the local business community as a mentor and an executive board member on the event committee for the SCORE Chicago Chapter.

 

Stacie's extensive practical experience is backed by a strong academic foundation in adult learning and motivational theories. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resources Management from The University of Arizona Global Campus, a Master of Arts (MA) in Organizational Behavior Studies from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Kutztown University.
