Please join the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra, Lake Forest’s premier community orchestra, for Slava! Russian Favorites on Sunday March 11 at 4:00pm at Gorton Community Center’s John and Nancy Hughes Theater. This concert will transport you to the magical and emotional era of turn of the 20th century Russian music. Featuring composers Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky, Rachmaninov, and Shostakovich, this is a concert you won’t want to miss. The Lake Forest Civic Orchestra’s mission is to create inspired communities by sharing high-quality musical experiences that promote lifelong learning and that reinvigorate the human spirit. LFCO is proud of its 27-year history of bringing professional and accomplished amateur musicians together to perform beloved classical works. Our current roster includes over 40 players from Lake County and beyond. The 2017-2018 concert season marks the third year with Robert Nordling as music director. The LFCO performs four regular concerts each season. Featuring: Tchaikovsky – Serenade for Strings 1880 Stravinsky – Berceuse & Finale from Firebird 1910 Rachmaninov – Vocalese (Orch) 1912: Rev 1915 Shostakovich – Symphony #1 in F Minor, Op 10 1924
