Name: Thanksgiving Day Run Canceled!
Date: November 26, 2020
Time: 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM CST
Event Description:
LFLB Running Club Cancels Thanksgiving Day Run for First Time in 31 Years Due to the Covid-19 situation, the LFLB Running Club is forced to cancel this year’s event, one of the longest running and largest participant events in Lake Forest. In past years, the Running Club has hosted a free Thanksgiving Day run for the local community from the LF West station. The only ‘fee’ was a donation to the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Over the years they have raised thousands of pounds of food and thousands of dollars for the Food Bank! This year, in spite of cancelling the run, the Club has decided it is more important than ever to support the Food Bank. The Club is setting up a Fund Raising drive to raise funds for the Food Bank. (Because of Covid-19, the Food Bank is only accepting cash donations.) They are reaching out to the community, especially those who have come out to run or walk in the past, to give generously to this cause. The demands on the No IL Food Bank have risen significantly, they are now distributing over 9 million meals a month, 50% more than last year. They need our help more than ever. Please join us in making a difference in the lives of the thousands of people in Northern Illinois who are hungry. The funds we raise will stay right here, in our backyard, and will fill an empty plate of a hungry neighbor. To give to this important cause go to www.lflb.org and click on Donate. For further information on this drive or to join, the Running Club can be contacted at info@lflb.org. Also, they are hoping to be back with the Run next year!
