Seventy years ago, the fascinating, controversial Medill Family controlled newspapers across the country. Their power, prestige and family eccentricities were the talk of the nation. Author Megan McKinney chronicles the escapades of this first family of journalism in her new book The Magnificent Medills. The program will be held at the former home of Eleanor “Cissy” Medill Patterson (Countess Gizycka) which was designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw in 1907. She is the granddaughter of Robert W. Patterson, first president of Lake Forest College.
Space is very limited. Call for availability and location information.
The program is held in collaboration with the Lake Forest Bookstore.
