Ragdale Tour
Visit the beautiful summer home, Ragdale, designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw for his family. The tour takes place on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 10:00 am at Ragdale, 1260 North Green Bay Road, Lake Forest. Tickets are $10. Advance reservations are required, please call 847-234-5253. Ragdale was designed so that each Shaw family member could pursue their artistic talents in the country setting: Shaw as an architect, his mother as a painter, his wife, Frances, as a poet and playwright and his daughter, Sylvia, as a sculptor. Alice Judson Hayes, his granddaughter, created the Ragdale Foundation and turned the home and farm into an artists retreat for artists to visit and create their own brilliant masterpieces. The tour includes the main house, the historic Barnhouse, the Ragdale Ring and gardens.
