Name: Unmask the Violence Gala 2017
Date: October 21, 2017
Time: 6:30 PM - 11:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Prepare for breathtaking displays of grace and strength by aerial performers 22 feet above your head at the 8th annual A Safe Place Unmask the Violence Gala on Saturday, October 21.

Held at the brand-new transformative venue, Loft 21, in Lincolnshire, the Gala will be an incredible experience that includes food tasting stations, cigar rolling demonstrations, whiskey tasting, and live music in addition to a spectacular live and silent auction, dancing, and moving presentations by domestic violence survivors.

“For this year’s Gala, we wanted to break the traditional sit-down dinner mold and present a new and exciting experience,” said Pat Davenport, A Safe Place Executive Director. “We hope that guests will come to enjoy a fun and memorable evening and leave feeling more connected to our mission and how they can help eliminate domestic violence in our communities.”

The Break the Silence - Unmask the Violence Gala is the largest and most important fundraiser of the year for A Safe Place, Lake County’s sole provider of services exclusively addressing domestic violence. All proceeds support the organization’s lifesaving programs and services for victims of domestic violence and their children, including crisis support, housing, legal advocacy, counseling, community outreach, and education to prevent future abuse.

After guests are greeted by a costumed dancer, the evening begins with cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres at 6:30pm alongside one-of-a-kind silent auction items. At 7:30pm, guests will be treated to chef action stations with made-to-order fajitas, pasta, mashed potato “martinis”, and chicken sliders by CORK Catering & Special Events.

Hosted by Marc Silverman, co-host of Waddle and Silvy on ESPN AM 1000, the Gala features a dazzling aerial display of athleticism and dance performed by C5 Creative Space, whiskey tasting by KOVAL Distillery, cigar rolling demonstrations by A Cuban Experience, and live music by King Henry and Megan Lick.

“There has never been a more important time to support domestic violence services,” said Davenport. “We have not received state dollars in over 13 months and are struggling to make ends meet. This puts us in jeopardy of severely reducing or eliminating our programs for adults and children. All funds raised at the Gala will make an immediate impact to help keep our doors open.”

Sponsors for the Gala include Schlesinger & Strauss LLC, Palmer Consulting Group LLC, IRON HORSE Seating, Libertyville Bank & Trust, and Rust-Oleum.
